Max Sync Quantity limits how much stock Shopcada pushes to your marketplace listing, no matter how much stock you actually hold. It works alongside Buffer Stock, which reserves stock before syncing.
Together they let you:
• Hold most of your stock back from the marketplace
• Show a small, controlled quantity on the listing
• Set one cap for the whole store, or a different cap for each variant
• Keep the listing topped back up to the cap as sales come in
Availability: Shopee and Tiktok only. Lazada and Zalora sync without a cap. The cap is switched off by default, so nothing changes on your store until you set it.
How Max Sync Quantity Works
Two settings control the quantity Shopcada sends to the marketplace:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Buffer Stock | Stock held back. Subtracted from your available stock before syncing. |
| Max Sync Quantity | Ceiling. The synced quantity is never higher than this value. |
Shopcada applies Buffer Stock first, then the cap:
|
Quantity synced = (Available stock − Buffer Stock), capped at Max Sync Quantity |
The synced quantity is never negative, and a cap of 0 means no cap.
Examples
| Available stock | Buffer Stock | Max Sync Quantity | Quantity synced |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 0 | 5 | 5 |
| 50 | 10 | 5 | 5 |
| 8 | 5 | 5 | 3 |
| 3 | 5 | 5 | 0 |
| 50 | 10 | 0 | 40 |
The Cap is Topped Back Up
The cap is not a one-time allocation. Every time your stock changes, Shopcada recalculates the quantity and pushes it again.
Example: with 50 units in stock and a cap of 5, the marketplace shows 5. A buyer orders 1 there, leaving 4. Shopcada pushes the listing back up to 5, because you still hold plenty of stock.
The listing continues to show 5 until your real stock, less the buffer, falls below 5. From that point the listing follows your actual stock down.
Setting the Store Default
The store default applies to every synced variant that has no cap of its own.
On Shopee
- Open the Shopee Settings tab.
- Scroll to the Shopee Field Default Values section.
- Enter a value in Max Sync Quantity, directly below Buffer Stock.
- Click Save.
Max Sync Quantity sits directly below Buffer Stock in the Shopee Field Default Values section.
On Tiktok
- Open the Tiktok Settings tab.
- Scroll to the Tiktok Default Settings section.
- Enter a value in Default Max Sync Quantity, directly below Default Buffer Stock.
- Click Save.
On Tiktok the same two fields are named Default Buffer Stock and Default Max Sync Quantity.
The value must be a whole number of 0 or more. A blank field is saved as 0.
Changing the store default does not update your listings by itself. See Applying a Changed Store Default below.
Setting a Cap for a Single Variant
A variant can carry its own cap that overrides the store default. This works exactly like the per-variant Buffer Stock.
- Open the product and select the Marketplace tab.
- Select the marketplace tab (Shopee or Tiktok).
- In the Variants table, enter a value in the Max Sync Qty column for the variant.
- Click Save.
The Max Sync Qty column sits beside Buffer Stock in the Variants table.
The Variants table lists Title, SKU, the marketplace Model ID, Price, Buffer Stock and Max Sync Qty.
- Leave Max Sync Qty blank to fall back to the store default.
- Enter 0 to remove the cap for that variant only.
- The value must be a whole number of 0 or more.
Unlike the store default, changing a variant's Max Sync Qty pushes the new quantity to the marketplace as soon as you save.
Applying a Changed Store Default
Changing the store default only affects future syncs. To apply it to listings that are already live:
- Navigate to Dashboard > Products > Products.
- Select the products to update.
- Choose Sync Inventory to Shopee or Sync Inventory to Tiktok from the bulk actions.
The sync runs in the background and pushes the recalculated quantity for every selected product.
Tips
Choosing a Cap
Set the cap to the quantity you are comfortable selling on that marketplace before your own restock or reconciliation. A low cap protects your other sales channels from a sudden marketplace rush; it also means the marketplace never advertises your full depth of stock.
Buffer Stock or Max Sync Quantity
- Use Buffer Stock to reserve a fixed amount of stock that is never sold on the marketplace.
- Use Max Sync Quantity to limit how much the marketplace can sell at once, regardless of how much you hold.
- The two work together, so you can use both.
Points to Note
- The cap applies to Shopee and Tiktok only.
- A cap of 0 means no cap. This is the default, so existing listings are unaffected until you set a value.
- The Batch Update tool updates Price and Buffer Stock. It does not set Max Sync Qty.
- A capped listing is topped back up after a marketplace sale, so the quantity shown there stays at the cap while you hold enough stock.
- Raising or removing the cap has no effect until the next sync of that product. Run Sync Inventory to apply it immediately.
